Book Review: Alias Grace by Margaret Atwood

"If we were all on trial for our thoughts, we would all be hanged" I started reading the book a while ago, and it's the first one of Atwood that I've ever read, but it certainly won't be the last. The story she tells is based on true events. Plot:  It's 1843, and Grace Marks has been convicted for her involvement in the vicious murders of her employer and his housekeeper and mistress. Some believe Grace is innocent; others think her evil or insane. Now serving a life sentence, Grace claims to have no memory of the murders. An up-and-coming expert in the burgeoning field of mental illness is engaged by a group of reformers and spiritualists who seek a pardon for Grace. He listens to her story while bringing her closer and closer to the day she cannot remember. Hey guys, in my last (and first) post I said I wanted to read 50 books in the upcoming 2018. I think it would be useful for me to start each month with books which I plan to read, and at the end of the month to check which ones I actually did. 1. Alias Grace by Margaret Atwood In short it's the story of an alleged murderess called Grace Marks. She's been imprisoned for 15 years, and people who believe she's innocent want to petition for her freedom, so they need doctor Simon Jordan to write a report in her favor. The problem is Grace cannot remember what had happened, or at least she says she can't. The story is based on true events while the character of Doctor Jordan is fictional. He is trying to awaken the memory of the event, so Grace tells him her story from her childhood till she is caught by the police. Netflix has made a mini series of the novel and this is how I learned there was a book. I watched the series and was completely engulfed in the story. W...
