The Joy of Online Teaching

Hello everyone, this is going to be a short one. I need to vent a little, so you can skip this. Since the first lockdown I've been teaching online - give or take a year. At first I was too nervous about how it would go, as I had only first, second and third graders. And, as expected it was a nightmare. Constant giggling, pets screeching, crying siblings, screaming parents (LISTEN. MISS SAID YOUR NAME!!! WHY ARE YOU NOT SPEAKING???), children  muting and unmuting each other, me barely holding it together (but what? Tears, laughter? I'm still not sure). I've seen more parents in their underwear than I care to admit.  Visual representation: Despite this rocky start we managed to finish the year. I even started liking it. At the end of our last lesson I asked all of my students which was the funniest thing that happened during the year - one class were unanimous 'when D and V started fighting'. Yeah, it was pretty funny. But not when they announce it online for all of ...

What's new?!

Hello people, long time no posting! It's been a whole year since the last book review. Not that I've read much since then. Honestly, I feel like I haven't done anything in that time. According to Goodreads I've read 18 books since the start of 2020. How? I've got no clue.   So, since last time I found a new job after a lot of searching. It's amazing how many shitty people are out there and how many of them are in charge of companies. Long story short I managed somehow to start working for a language center and it's became time Pros: -met great colleagues with whom we've become friends -the working hours weren't great, but at least during the day I had more free time Cons: - shitty boss who is always nice to you but at the same time doesn't care for their team, hence a lot of resignation - lies about the salary - lies about my future in the company: we had agreed for me to teach remotely from Monday till Friday but now suddenly...

BookReview: Gone with the Wind by Margaret Michell

Hey lovelies, I finally managed to finish Gone with the Wind. As one of the classics and favorite book of many women I decided I couldn't put it off any longer. I've watched the film many many years ago and other than the last scene and I didn't really remember much. GoodReads Summary: Gone with the Wind  is a novel written by Margaret Mitchell, first published in 1936. The story is set in Clayton County, Georgia, and Atlanta during the American Civil War and Reconstruction era. It depicts the struggles of young Scarlett O'Hara, the spoiled daughter of a well-to-do plantation owner, who must use every means at her disposal to claw her way out of the poverty she finds herself in after Sherman's March to the Sea. A historical novel, the story is a Bildungsroman or coming-of-age story, with the title taken from a poem written by Ernest Dowson.  Gone with the Wind  was popular with American readers from the onset and was the top American fiction bestseller in the...

BookReview: I Heart New York by Lindsey Kels

Hey lovelies, I'm back with another book review. I went back to my hometown to visit my parents for 2 days and I didn't bring my laptop with me, because I didn't want to travel with any baggage - all I had was my everyday bag. Which led to the inevitable question what should I do? I went out with friends, did some errands but you can't spend every moment with other people, at least I can't. So, I searched through my personal library at home for quick short entertaining read that wouldn't be too serious. It's safe to say that I didn't have any expectations about this book, since it came with one issue of Cosmopolitan magazine and I didn't even have any idea how it came to my possession. GoodReads Summary: Get ready to meet Angela Clark as she flees the world’s worst wedding for a new life… It's official. Angela Clarke is in love – with the most fabulous city in the world. Fleeing her cheating boyfriend and clutching little more than a cru...

BookReview: The Power of the Pussy by Kara King

Hey lovelies, I've been trying to write the introduction to today's book review and I've been having the hardest time. Honestly, I don't even have a good explanation why I started reading it. I mean... just look at the cover and the very first words "If men are dogs... this is animal control", and the whole "how to get what you want from men...". It just all sounds too manipulating and ludicrous for my taste. GoodReads Summary: Kara King's controversial book, "The Power of the Pussy", shares 12 powerful secrets that will transform any woman into the type of strong, desirable woman that can effortlessly obtain what she wants from men; including the love, respect and relationship she desires.  In this book you'll learn valuable lessons that will teach you how to...  ~Flip the switch in your female brain, so you can beat men at their own game...  ~Have men lining up to date you and desperate for your attention...  ~Heal from a br...

Product Review: The Body Shop Mango Range

Hi lovelies, it's been a looong time since I last posted here. And no, it isn't because of lack time. Actually this is all I have right now and I'm watching TV series and procrastinating as much as I can. But this is another topic. I wanted to review the Body Shop Mango series. I've purchased several products by them. I thought about choosing different scents but honestly I just liked the Mango one the best. 1. Body Scrub This is actually the only product I've finished. At first I was excited because it smelled so good and I've been looking for a good body scrub forever. But it was a disappointment. It wasn't as gritty as I wanted and on top of that it was way too oily. Even after rinsing repeatedly there was a film of it left on my skin. To some people this may be a plus but I didn't like the experience. Ultimately I started using it as a foot scrub and I was much more pleased with it that way. 2. Body Yogurt and Body Butter I was confused a...

Throne of Glass by Sarah J Maas

Hey guys, I know I'm always late to the hype but I finally managed to get my hands on a copy of this book. I had it on my to-read shelf on Goodreads even before it was published, and  totally forgot about it. I came across the book absolutely randomly and remembered wanting to read it when I updated my status. Summary: After serving out a year of hard labor in the salt mines of Endovier for her crimes, 18-year-old assassin Celaena Sardothien is dragged before the Crown Prince. Prince Dorian offers her her freedom on one condition: she must act as his champion in a competition to find a new royal assassin. Her opponents are men-thieves and assassins and warriors from across the empire, each sponsored by a member of the king's council. If she beats her opponents in a series of eliminations, she'll serve the kingdom for four years and then be granted her freedom. Celaena finds her training sessions with the captain of the guard, Westfall, challenging and exhilarating....
