Hey guys,
It's time for another book review. It's again on the Black Dagger Brotherhood series. The third book - Lover Awakened follows Zsadist and Bella's story, which we saw the beginning of in Lover Eternal. .
GoodReads Summary:
A former blood slave, the vampire Zsadist still bears the scars from a past filled with suffering and humiliation. Renowned for his unquenchable fury and sinister deeds, he is a savage feared by humans and vampires alike. Anger is his only companion, and terror is his only passion—until he rescues a beautiful aristocrat from the evil Lessening Society.
Bella is instantly entranced by the seething power Zsadist possesses. But even as their desire for one another begins to overtake them both, Zsadist’s thirst for vengeance against Bella’s tormentors drives him to the brink of madness. Now, Bella must help her lover overcome the wounds of his tortured past, and find a future with her…
My opinion:
I remember the first time I read it how much I liked it. This second time was a slightly different story.
The story of Z is a tragic one, and as such the only drawback for me was how quickly everything unfolded. He had spent 2 hours with her and suddenly he was obsessed after she disappeared. And after they found her,he worked through years and years of trauma in the matters of a week. And yes, there was this two month period of them being separated in the end but his transformation had started before that. However, this is something which could be said for most of these book the whole relationship blossoms in a week. Which for me is too unrealistic, even given the fact we're talking about vampires and everything is heightened and they all seem to fall in love instantly upon setting eyes on each other.
But that left aside the story is engulfing and the world of the Brotherhood expands with each book. We got development on John's story, we got introduced more into the character of Phury setting us for when it's time for his book. And we see more and more of the relationship between the warriors, which sometimes is too forced and, again, unrealistic.
P.S. I would love it if you comment on the types of review you'd prefer: whether to be shorter or longer because I seem to wander a lot.
