Filthy Rich Vampires by Geneva Lee Albin

Hey guys, I managed to read a book. Shocking, I know. I was scrolling through some book pages and came across Filthy Rich Vampires. I was in the mood for something light, plot-driven, maybe some sex scenes, just something entertaining to be honest. I actually love stories about vampires. So, when I saw this one I was like JACKPOT. ! I was a little taken aback by the title. I really don't like when people obviously hop on the bandwagon of a popular title/series, etc. GoodReads Summary: Julian Rousseaux has a problem. He’s single, and for the world’s wealthiest vampires, the social season is about to begin. Julian would rather stake himself than participate in the marriage market. But as the eldest, eligible Rousseaux he’s expected to find a wife before the season ends—whether he likes it or not. When cellist Thea literally stumbles into his life at a gala, he knows she's the last person he could ever fall in love with. She's too innocent, too kind, and way too human. But no...

Everything and the Moon

Hi everyone, After Bridgerton's disastrous second season I felt like reading a light entertaining romance novel. I still have to finish book 7 and 8 btw, but I'll get to them eventually. So, I picked up another Julia Quinn novel - Everything and the Moon. Summary from GoodReads: Seven years ago she broke his heart... When Robert Kemble stumbles across Victoria Lyndon in hedgerow maze, he can't believe his eyes. The girl who'd torn him in two, who let him plan on elopement and then left him standing by the side of the road, was suddenly within arm's reach, and even though his fury still knew no bounds, she was impossible to resist... Seven years ago he left her all but ruined... Victoria's father had told her an earl would never marry a vicar's daughter, and he was right. Robert had promised her marriage, then danced off to London while she suffered the shame of a foiled elopement. But even though Victoria doesn't particularly enjoy her new life as a gov...

BookReview: Gone with the Wind by Margaret Michell

Hey lovelies, I finally managed to finish Gone with the Wind. As one of the classics and favorite book of many women I decided I couldn't put it off any longer. I've watched the film many many years ago and other than the last scene and I didn't really remember much. GoodReads Summary: Gone with the Wind  is a novel written by Margaret Mitchell, first published in 1936. The story is set in Clayton County, Georgia, and Atlanta during the American Civil War and Reconstruction era. It depicts the struggles of young Scarlett O'Hara, the spoiled daughter of a well-to-do plantation owner, who must use every means at her disposal to claw her way out of the poverty she finds herself in after Sherman's March to the Sea. A historical novel, the story is a Bildungsroman or coming-of-age story, with the title taken from a poem written by Ernest Dowson.  Gone with the Wind  was popular with American readers from the onset and was the top American fiction bestseller in the...

BookReview: I Heart New York by Lindsey Kels

Hey lovelies, I'm back with another book review. I went back to my hometown to visit my parents for 2 days and I didn't bring my laptop with me, because I didn't want to travel with any baggage - all I had was my everyday bag. Which led to the inevitable question what should I do? I went out with friends, did some errands but you can't spend every moment with other people, at least I can't. So, I searched through my personal library at home for quick short entertaining read that wouldn't be too serious. It's safe to say that I didn't have any expectations about this book, since it came with one issue of Cosmopolitan magazine and I didn't even have any idea how it came to my possession. GoodReads Summary: Get ready to meet Angela Clark as she flees the world’s worst wedding for a new life… It's official. Angela Clarke is in love – with the most fabulous city in the world. Fleeing her cheating boyfriend and clutching little more than a cru...

BookReview: The Power of the Pussy by Kara King

Hey lovelies, I've been trying to write the introduction to today's book review and I've been having the hardest time. Honestly, I don't even have a good explanation why I started reading it. I mean... just look at the cover and the very first words "If men are dogs... this is animal control", and the whole "how to get what you want from men...". It just all sounds too manipulating and ludicrous for my taste. GoodReads Summary: Kara King's controversial book, "The Power of the Pussy", shares 12 powerful secrets that will transform any woman into the type of strong, desirable woman that can effortlessly obtain what she wants from men; including the love, respect and relationship she desires.  In this book you'll learn valuable lessons that will teach you how to...  ~Flip the switch in your female brain, so you can beat men at their own game...  ~Have men lining up to date you and desperate for your attention...  ~Heal from a br...

Shadow Heir by Richelle Mead

Hey guys, I finally managed to finish the fourth and final book in Mead's series Dark Swan. It definitely took me longer to read this one compared to the others, mainly because after Iron Crowned I really, really didn't feel like it. GoodReads Summary: #1 New York Times bestselling author Richelle Mead returns to the Otherworld, a mystic land inextricably linked to our own--and balanced precariously on one woman's desperate courage... Shaman-for-hire Eugenie Markham strives to keep the mortal realm safe from trespassing entities. But as the Thorn Land's prophecy-haunted queen, there's no refuge for her and her soon-to-be-born-children when a mysterious blight begins to devastate the Otherworld... The spell-driven source of the blight isn't the only challenge to Eugenie's instincts. Fairy king Dorian is sacrificing everything to help, but Eugenie can't trust the synergy drawing them back together. The uneasy truce between her and her shape shifter...

Iron Crowned by Richelle Mead

Her only hope: the Iron Crown, a legendary object even the most powerful gentry fear… Who Eugenie can trust is the hardest part. Fairy king Dorian has his own agenda for aiding her search. The Happiness Project by Gretchen Rubin

Hey guys, despite the obvious failure of my reading challenge, I finished another book. I usually don't read self-help books or non-fiction for that matter but The Happiness Project seemed an appropriate title for me, as I've been told I'm someone who is constantly sulking. Of course, I don't agree with this. GoodReads Summary Gretchen Rubin had an epiphany one rainy afternoon in the unlikeliest of places: a city bus. “The days are long, but the years are short,” she realized. “Time is passing, and I’m not focusing enough on the things that really matter.” In that moment, she decided to dedicate a year to her happiness project. In this lively and compelling account, Rubin chronicles her adventures during the twelve months she spent test-driving the wisdom of the ages, current scientific research, and lessons from popular culture about how to be happier. Among other things, she found that novelty and challenge are powerful sources of happiness; that money can he...

Life Update

Hey guys, I've been missing for quite a while for one simple reason - I hadn't read a book since the summer I didn't have anything to write about. So, the prospects of completed the reading challenge are getting slimmer and slimmer, well they are non-existent, really. Only this year I'm not going to adjust my goal on the GoodReads tracker to make it seem like I didn't actually failed. The number of read books until this moment  is 22 out of 50 (I'm currently reading one which I think I'll finish by the end of the week). Now, regarding the reasons for my lack of time and what's been going on. I.  I got my driving licence  Yep, at the ripe age of 25 I finally decided it was time to join the throngs of drivers. Let me start with saying that I've never wanted to drive, never had an interest, and quite frankly I was afraid. I mean I can't ride a bike: why would I rush out to operate a car? I started my driving lessons in the summer, whi...

BookReview: How to Abduct a Highland Lord by Karen Hawkins

Hey guys, I've been on vacation and the WiFi in the room is terrible so I started reading a quick easy book: How to Abduct a Highland Lord by Karen Hawkins. It's in the genre of romantic novels and it's a part of a series consisting of six books in total. GoodReads Summary: It’s hardly the type of wedding Fiona MacLean dreamed of. No family, no guests, just a groom who’s been dragged—literally—to the altar. But if marriage to Black Jack Kincaid, the handsome wastrel she’d sworn never to see again, will avert a bloody war between their clans, so be it. Surely she can share his bed without losing her heart… Known throughout Scotland and London as a wild rogue, Jack is accustomed to waking in dire situations, but…married? Long ago, he and Fiona reveled in a youthful passion. Now, the fiery, sensual lass is his once more. And though their marriage is in name only, Jack is determined to win her forever—body and soul…   My opinion: The book started as a very promising o...

Howards End by EM Forster

Hey guys, I read another book for my reading challenge( which by the looks of it would be a fail). This time it's another classic - Howards End by EM Forster. I became aware of the existence of this book by watching the HBO TV series. GoodReads Summary Only connect… A chance acquaintance brings together the preposterous bourgeois Wilcox family and the clever, cultured and idealistic Schlegel sisters. As clear-eyed Margaret develops a friendship with Mrs Wilcox, the impetuous Helen brings into their midst a young bank clerk named Leonard Bast, who lives at the edge of poverty and ruin. When Mrs Wilcox dies, her family discovers that she wants to leave her country home, Howards End, to Margaret. Thus as Forster sets in motion a chain of events that will entangle three different families, he brilliantly portrays their aspirations to personal and social harmony.  My opinion The story of the Shlegel sisters is a compelling one. The portrayed characters are lively, the writ...
